It’s Teacher Appreciation Week. Let’s get a great big WHOOP WHOOP for all the hard working teachers out there!
When I was a kid I thought teaching would be the most glorious job in the world. You work 9 months and got the entire summer off. What more could you ask for?
Then I learned these things:
Teachers arrive at school before the kids arrive & leave after they have gone home.
Teachers do home work too.
Teachers have to deal with large numbers of kids & their parents daily & not they are not always well behaved, parents included.
This post is a bit different from my usual sugary sweet posts. I’m joining the the Crazy Cooking Challenge hosted by Mom’s Crazy Cooking.
I love to cook, almost just as much as I love to bake, so I figured I’d mix it up a bit.
This month’s challenge was a Grilled Cheese Sandwich. The only requirements were that the sandwich contain bread and cheese & that the recipe came from another blog. You have no idea how many Grilled Cheese recipes I drooled over before made a decision. WOW the grilled cheese sure has evolved. When I was kid the only variation was adding a few strips of bacon.
Happy Cinco de Mayo everyone!
A friend sent me a link to these Sombrero Cookies from Disney Family Fun yesterday afternoon & they were just so cute that I had to make some for Cinco de Mayo. I have been dying for a reason to try out the Vanilla Variation of Lila Loa‘s End All Chocolate Cookie since Georganne posted it last month & this seemed as good a time as ever. I’m glad that I did; I was not disappointed. These cookies are tasty, hold their shape very well and are so easy to work with. I am officially retiring my other sugar cookie recipe.
The first time I had Zucchini Bread was a few years ago; a friend from work got a loaf in a care package from him mom. I’m a recovering picky eater, so I was kind of leery at first. Until pretty recently the only vegetables I ate were broccoli, cauliflower, carrots and lettuce (if it was slathered in Ranch). I gave it a shot and was amazed at how moist and yummy it was. I’ve been hooked since.
A week later and I finally feel like I’ve recovered from the whirlwind vacation. I’m not the kind of person that has to have a plan for everything. I’ve come to realize that going to great lengths to make a plan usually leads to me getting frustrated because inevitably nothing goes according to plan. But I really like to have a plan when I’m traveling. I don’t have to have every minute of the day scheduled just the big details, like lodging.
This post is a few days late; I scheduled it to publish on Friday but I guess sometimes I’m not as computer savvy as I would like to think I am. Better late than never, right?
I’m half way into my whirlwind vacation, killing time in the Vegas airport & drinking a spicy mango margarita.YUMMY! In the past few days we have driven over 20oo miles through 5 states. Now we’re on our way to warm and sunny California to do some surfing, shopping & wine tasting.

Since its Spring season and Easter is right around the corner, I made No Bake Peanut Butter Nests, I got this recipe from Couponing & Cooking one of my favorite recipe blogs, and I just tweaked the recipe to make it a healthy treat. These are so easy to make, and take only about 10 minutes and you are done, and they are the cutest little cookie.
